MATT MURPHY FOR LAGERFELD GALLERY

Lagerfeld Gallery was Karl’s eponymous label of Ready-to-Wear and accessories. Matt Murphy worked with Mr. Lagerfeld to produce two seasons of co-branded bags to complement the clothing collections. Designs included the example shown here, based on Murphy’s ‘Crescent’ bag, and using Karl’s selection of hair-on calfskin and suede in a modified shape with the transformational ‘Strapocket’ detail where the strap is hidden inside the bag body providing cross-body and tight shoulder carrying options. The collection enjoyed press in WWD and a full-price sell through in 4 weeks.
