ACCESSORIES / MATT MURPHY FOR RICHARD TYLER’S CONCEPT CURE CAR
A system of fitted luggage plus matching handbag for the CFDA’s Concept Cure breast cancer initiative and General Motors. Designed especially for the trunk of Tyler’s Buick Riviera, which used a special Italian leather, the same as the car’s upholstery. Pieces included a jewel case, clothes trunk, and smaller cases for shoes and accessories. Each case included a silk satin lining. The unusual shape of the two tallest trunks relates to the curve of the car itself.
This program was intended to produce one vehicle which was sold to benefit the CFDA’s Concept Cure Charity, priced at $100K each. There was demand through the Neiman Marcus catalog to produce seven unique vehicles and luggage sets, generating $700K for the charity.
